MAPS & PATHS
MAPS & PATHS are planning processes that help individuals identify their goals.
These models take the individual from the dream stage to the positive and
practical application of making their dreams into reality. Both processes depend
heavily on the development of natural supports. The difference between this and
a wrap-around services plan is that wrap services depend on government funded
agency provided supports. For example a latchkey child might get funded for
after school recreational activities, whereas a child/family using the
MAPS/PATHS model might arrange for a circle of friends for support after school.
Many of us have access to natural supports which can help us access the quality
of life community inclusion can offer.
