Spend an evening with Dr. Temple Grandin, designer of livestock handling facilities, Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University, consultant on animal behavior and animal welfare to the livestock industry, and autism spokesperson. She is one of the first on the autism spectrum to publicly share her personal experiences of and insights on autism.
As an accomplished scientist, educator, and advocate, Dr. Grandin has been an inspiration to generations of people with autism and their families, and her story has helped the world to value minds of all kinds. She has been inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, named to the National Women’s Hall of Fame, and is the subject of an Emmy Award-winning film. She has appeared on television shows such as 20/20, 48 Hours, CNN Larry King Live, PrimeTime Live, the Today Show, and many others. She has been featured in People Magazine, the New York Times, Forbes, U.S. News and World Report, Time Magazine, the New York Times book review, and Discover magazine. She has also authored over 300 articles in both scientific journals and livestock periodicals on animal handling, welfare, and facility design. Her book Animals in Translation: Using the Mysteries of Autism to Decode Animal Behavior was a New York Times best seller.

A book signing for ticket holders will follow the event from 8:15 to 9 p.m.
A meet and greet with Temple will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. in Engbretson Hall.
