Are you a parent of a child with a disability or a community member in gaining a strong understanding of the special education system? Parent Advocacy Leadership (PAL) is a free training series designed to help you navigate the special education process in Illinois.
Requirements:
  •  Willing to attend all 8 sessions,
  • Willing to participate in weekly check-ins,
  • Willing to complete pre and post survey,
  • Willing to complete homework assignments prior to class.
Each training session is from 10:00am to 3:00pm (CST) 
at Family Resource Center on Disabilities

Training will cover: 
  • The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  • State law (Part 226)
  • The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Section 504 Advocacy
The training dates are Saturdays:
 September 7th, September 14th, September 21st, September 28th, October 5th, October 12th, October 19th, and October 26th
