The Goal of the Summit is to engage and organize individuals with disabilities and their allies to target key policy areas to improve access to supported employment.

Summit Participants Will

  • Learn about the SEAT Project
  • Discuss the findings from the SEAT listening sessions and surveys
  • Listen to the Directors of the Divisions of Developmental Disabilities and Rehabilitation Services
  • Strategize about policy change priorities
  • Respond to a call to action

9:00 A.M.- Registration and Coffee

10:00 A.M.- Welcome and Introductions about SEAT

10:15 A.M.- Findings from Employment Surveys and Listening Sessions

10:45 A.M.- Discussion with Directors

  • Director Melissa Wright, Division of Developmental Disabilities, DHS
  • Director Quinetta Wade, Division of Rehabilitation Services, DHS
  • Director Heather Calomese, Executive Director of Special Education Services, ISBE
11:30 A.M.- Strategy Session for Policy Change with Action Teams
  • Participants meet in small action teams to identify strategic action steps to make change
12:15 P.M.- Working Lunch
12:45 P.M.- Report Out and Call to Action
1:30 P.M.- Conclude
