Early Childhood Special Education

Early Childhood Special Education serves children ages three to five who have developmental delays or disabilities. These programs are part of the special education continuum operated by the public schools of Illinois. Children who received services through Early Intervention are transitioned into Early Childhood Special Education as long as they remain eligible. If you have concerns regarding your child’s development, you may call your local school district to discuss your concerns and ask for an evaluation to determine eligibility. For more information on Early Childhood Special Education services, see the Early Childhood section of the ISBE website at: https://www.isbe.net/Pages/Early-Childhood.aspx
